Each project can be configured to alert the project manager when a percentage of the overall budget has been reached. To set this up, go to the project profile page and edit the project. Enter the percentage of the budget that should be used to trigger the email alert. A good place to start is 50%.
When the budget is reached an email alert will be sent to the project manager(s) listed for that project. After this, the project may be edited and the percentage set to a higher amount to trigger another email.
Project budget alerts are a useful way to stay ahead of a project. By notifying the project managers before the budget is maxed out, potential project problems can be resolved with the client before becoming an emergency.
