The task management features of the Intervals platform follow a hierarchical structure, where each task belongs to a single project. Sometimes, there might be a need to move a task from one project to another. Here’s how to do it.
First, make sure that all of the dependencies on the task have been allocated to the target project. They are as follows:
- Default work types
If there is any time on the task, those default work types will need to be present on the target project. - Default modules
The module affiliated with the task must also be present on the target project. - Owners, assignees, followers
All owners, assignees, and followers on the task must also be members of the target project’s team.
To move the task, simply update it and select a new project. If you’re not sure that all dependencies have been met, that’s OK. Go ahead and try moving the task. Intervals will stop you from moving the task if any of the dependencies can’t be resolved.
If the task is associated with a custom module, or its time entries include custom work types, this process will not work. In that event, it’s best to contact our support team for help.
