We’ve given Intervals a fresh coat of paint. And more than that, a cleaner, more focused way to get your work done. Here’s what’s new and how to turn it on.
What’s new
Cleaner, more organized navigation. The main menu has been simplified so the tools you use most are easier to find and less cluttered by the ones you don’t.
More breathing room. We’ve trimmed the visual noise (extra borders, dense tables, and busy backgrounds) in favor of more negative space, so the page in front of you highlights what matters instead of competing for your attention.
Bigger, easier-to-hit timer buttons. Starting and stopping timers is now more prominent, whether you’re on a task, a project, or working from a list.
A timer drawer that slides out from the right. Instead of a fixed footer bar, your running timers now live in a drawer you can open from the right edge of the screen whenever you need it, and tuck away when you don’t.
Assign timers while they’re running. You no longer have to stop a timer to attach it to the right project or task. You can set (or change) that assignment right from the drawer while time is still ticking.
Dark mode. The new theme includes a dark mode option, if that’s more your style.
We’ll continue to refine the new theme based on feedback, so if something feels off or you’d love to see an improvement, let us know.
How to switch to the new theme
- Log in to Intervals as you normally would.
- Open your profile menu in the top right corner.
- Click Preview the New Intervals!
This puts your account into preview mode so you can click around and get a feel for the new look before committing to it. Preview mode is just for you, it won’t change what your teammates see.
While you’re previewing, you’ll see a banner at the top of the page with two options:
- Switch Back
Exits preview mode and returns you to your current theme. Nothing is changed. - Keep this Theme
Makes the new theme permanent for your entire account. All of your team members will see the new theme the next time they log in.
Only an account administrator can make the switch permanent. If you’re previewing as a non-admin user, clicking Keep this Theme will let you know that an administrator needs to confirm the change.
How to switch back
Changed your mind after making the switch permanent? No problem, you can revert your whole account to your previous theme at any time.
- Go to Settings & Defaults.
- Find the Previous Theme section.
- Click Switch back to previous theme.
- Confirm the change.
Just like switching to the new theme, this is an account-wide change — everyone on your team will see the previous theme the next time they log in. You can switch to the new theme again at any time using the steps above.
